A community effort marching in honor of the of lives lost daily in animal shelters and out on the streets due to neglect and lack of accountability from the Mayor, city officials, LAPD, LA Animal Control, irresponsible owners and illegal breeders. Bringing awareness to the current worldwide crisis
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH 🐾
Our Animal Rights Movement
THE THOUSAND LIVES MARCH is taking place to honor the thousands of lives lost daily in our shelter system as well as out on the streets due to lack of accountability and irresponsibility from the city mayor, government officials, and departments who run the shelter system.
The lives of these animals mattered when alive and they still matter now.
Not only are there animals suffering of poor conditions in the shelters (lack of physical activity, short euthanasia notices, poor kennel hygiene, etc) but the stray animal community is left to fend for themselves because they are “not actively dying” for animal control to come and do anything about their current situation.
Overpopulation, illegal dog fighting rings, bestiality, animal brutality, and forced breeding are just a few of the situations the stray animal community is faced with on a daily basis because these same officials won’t lift a finger.
Rescues, community members, volunteers, literally anyone else steps up BUT the people whose job it is to care about the situation and enforce the law for the welfare of these animals.
The goal of Thousand Lives is to honor the lives lost and to demand that government officials:- be held accountable for the deplorable conditions animals are currently in- that current laws/fines/bills are ENFORCED & AMENDED- to have a sit down with animal advocates and rescues at the local level who’d like to provide input to implement & integrate new changes in our shelter system for the betterment of every animal life involved.

Esmeralda has close to 10 years of experience working with dogs in different focus areas.
She started volunteering at the age of 16 and worked in different animal rescues for 5-6 years focusing on rehabilitation and aiding in the adoption process of dogs who came from local abuse cases, abandonment, dog fighting, dog meat trade survivors, among other hard circumstances. After working with rescues, she managed a small doggy hotel/daycare in Hollywood for 3 years. Esmeralda is now an independent dog services provider as well as a dog bather in a corporate setting specializing in working with dogs who present behavioral issues, reactivity, or any form of aggression.
Seeing the stark contrast between the dogs who suffered on a daily basis before being rescued versus those who get pampered in luxury businesses made Esmeralda realize that every dog SHOULD have a place to call home and be pampered and loved just as much as the next. The lack of action, irresponsibility, and brutality in response to the overpopulation crisis is astounding and only continues to increase. After saying “I hope someone does something” for years hoping things would get better, Esmeralda believes that EVERYONE can be that someone and we shouldn’t have to wait to speak up for the animals. The change needs to happen NOW.
